using BEDMAS 

A. 15 × 77 - 55 

= 1155 - 55

= 1100

B. 1200 - 14 * 5 

= 1200 - 70

= 1130

C. 7200 ÷ 12 × 2

= 600 × 2

= 1200  (highest)

D. 900 + 74 × 2

= 900 + 148

= 1048

2. What is the value of x?

21 - x + 17 + 3x = 4x

a. 38

b. 76

c. 17

d. 19  ---  answer

Solution 

21 - x + 17 + 3x = 4x

38 + 2x = 4x

38 = 4x - 2x

38 = 2x

x = 38/2

x = 19

checking: 

substitute x = 19

21 - x + 17 + 3x = 4x

21 - 19 + 17 + 3(19) = 4(19)

2 + 17 + 57 = 76

19 + 57 = 76

76 = 76
